Adventures with Strawberry Jam

One of the few memories I have of my mom is my sitting on the steps next to the downstairs kitchen, watching her can fruits and vegetables.

I’ve always wanted to do that, specifically strawberry jam, since it is one of the most amazing things to ever be invented, but since I generally dislike all things kitchen, I’ve never gotten around to doing it.

Enter in months upon months of self-quarantine, and an overabundance from a very fun (and only) family outing to a strawberry patch. I used this recipe, which was very simple, and easy to follow. Mine did take a LOT longer to reach the correct consistency, but other than that, it was great. (Full disclosure: after I wrote this, I took the jam off anyway, although I didn’t think it was quite ready, and canned it, and it ended up WAY too hard, so I over cooked it by… a lot. It still TASTES delicious, though, so hard jam it is!)

I hope everyone has a sweet week!
