Hello, and Happy Thanksgiving!
We are celebrating Thanksgiving at home with just my little family this year, due to Covid19. While it will be a definite first for us, we feel it is so important to stay home and stay safe, for us and others.
We are determined to make it special, though! Chris bought many of the traditional Thanksgiving staples, like potatoes and stuffing, and put Harlow and I in charge of desserts, which we took on today! He gets the day off of his new job(!) tomorrow, so it will be so nice to spend the day with our little family!
The desserts were chosen by Harlow, and she basically did them all herself, with little help from me! She’s growing up so, so quickly. It is wonderful and heartbreaking.
So, she and Chris looked through dessert ideas, and she liked the idea of making “acorns” which were made with a mini peanut butter cookie, a chocolate kiss, and a chocolate chip. The problem was, Harlow doesn’t like peanut butter. I know… weird, right? So since we failed to find any other mini cookies, we made some! 1/4 teaspoon of sugar cookie dough at 350 for 5-6 minutes was the key! That is, after some trial and error!
We also made chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate pretzel sticks (with and without sprinkles!).
I’m excited for tomorrow, but I’m VERY excited about putting up the Christmas decorations on Friday!!! We already have the outside lights up, so it has been SO hard to not skip Thanksgiving and put up all the Christmas stuff!
I hope you all have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!
