A Few of My Favorite Things

Now that the dust has settled on The Great Cat Escape and the Great Cat Birthday Party, and Harlow’s spring break is over, I find myself in a very quiet house, with the cold rain drizzling outside, able to take a moment to breathe. I already have almost everything ready for Easter, so really I have some time to focus on… something. I’m just not sure what that something is, yet.

For today, I thought I’d jot down a little list of things I’m really loving. Things that make me happy.

Bath and Body Works White Tea and Sage Wallflower

I’ve been using the wallflowers for maybe about a year (I got a free one) and have liked several of the scents I’ve tried – and REALLY disliked a few. My daughter’s favorite is Ghoul Friend, but that is a seasonal Halloween scent, so even though we bought a bunch of them while they were out, she’s almost out until fall. But anyway. MY new favorite scent is the White Tea and Sage. It is a relaxing, calming scent for me, and unlike several of the other scents, I actually smell it after a few days! I don’t go nose blind to it. It just smells incredible.

DIY Chai Lattes

I’ve never made my love of lattes (or coffee in general) a secret, but lately I’ve been craving non-coffee options. Weird, right?I started getting chai lattes from Starbucks, but at almost $7 each (I use almond milk) it was way too much. So, I have been getting the mixes at the store and making my own. I get the Tazo Classic for around $4, and use Almond Breeze unsweetened vanilla almond milk. You can either heat it or pour it over ice, and it is so, so delicious. I use it as my “treat” for waiting in the car line to pick up Harlow.

My New Easter Tray

I know I’m so late jumping on the tiered tray trend (yay alliteration!) but I’ve WANTED one for years! I just never found one I liked! So, last month, I popped into a Hobby Lobby while I was running an errand in Indiana. I found this adorable, sturdy, inexpensive little tray that I really liked. And, because I’m the queen of talking myself out buying things for myself, I decided not to get it. A couple of weeks later, I was still thinking about that tray, and regretting not buying it. I called my stepmom, who had mentioned she made it to Hobby Lobby quite often, and begged her to pick it up for me. She’s awesome. They were out of stock and she had the store put her on an alert for when it came back in. I’m not great at decorating, but even with my haphazard attempt to decorate it for the first time, I’m really loving how it looks.

A work in progress, but it’s cute.

Vegetarian Meatballs

I hadn’t made my amazing vegetarian meatballs in a long time, but decided to make them for my husband’s birthday dinner. And again last night. I had forgotten just how phenomenal they are. If you haven’t tried making them yet, you really, really should. They are easy and so good. Even my avid-hunter meat-destroyer brother asked for the recipe. Seriously delicious.

Spring-ish

Poor Spring. It is trying so hard. We’ll have a day or two of relative warmth, then, well, days like today. It is currently 38 degrees and raining, with a chance of wintery mix and snow later. Woo. However, like I said, Spring is trying. I’m seeing little green shoots everywhere. I hope the cold doesn’t kill everything off, but so far they are sticking around. Plus, we’ve been seeing deer, birds, and bunnies. It is always so nice to see wildlife without having to be in the country.

Although being in the country sometimes is nice, too.

Trying New Things

And finally, at least for right now, I’m happy to just be able to get back to doing some things that have been on my mind. I have some crafts I want to attempt, and I started writing again. Not for public consumption, but every once in a while, the urge to write comes over me that isn’t quelled by this blog. It isn’t for anyone but me, but it makes the niggling feeling go away. For a while. I might even break out my actual camera. Who knows?

Well, little lovelies, enjoy your week, and try to create something new.
Leave a little glitter everywhere you go.
