Halloween Crafting – His and Hers

I can’t believe Harlow started school over (well over) a month ago! I’ve been busy with making costumes and crafting Halloween and vacation stuff, helping out at Harlow’s school, yard work… just… busy! I have made time to do a few of the Halloween crafts that have been on my mind since… well, last Halloween!

First up, my potion bottles. I had one or two done last year, but I envisioned a whole platter full of them, so I collected interesting bottles throughout the year, knowing that eventually, I could use them for this project. Thank goodness my husband likes barbecue sauce in cool bottles! I just love them. And, surprisingly, the cat hasn’t knocked them over yet! *knock wood*

Up next are my cat wreath and my skeleton bubble bath, complete with bath pouf and spooky toiletries.

Now, does this mean I’m all caught up on the Halloween crafts I’d like to do? Hahahahaha!!! Not at ALL! I still have a pretty lengthy list, but honestly, it might wait until next year. I have a lot going on right now… our upcoming vacation (which I’m not in constant panic-mode about… *sigh*), more volunteering at the school, and ugh… Christmas. I’ve been getting a pretty good head start on that. We’ll see.

The rest of the house is decked out, too, of course, besides a few outdoor decorations we haven’t gotten around to putting up yet, like the giant spiderweb and the ghostly lamp posts.

One fun thing, is that I’ve officially flipped my husband to the dark side. Last year my sister sent me a box of skulls and severed hands (as she is wont to do) and I wasn’t sure what to do with them. An idea started forming in my mind about wanting to make a candy bowl table for when we’re out Trick-or-Treating, to sit by Mr. Bones. I mentioned it in passing to my husband, and bless him, he said, “Do you want me to just make it? And he did! Plus a surprise coffin from some old pallets, and a mini spider web and coffin for Harlow. I’m so geeked.

As for our upcoming vacation, I’ve made a couple of things. We are going to Disney for two of the days; to Animal Kingdom one day, and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for the other. I made Harlow and I matching tanks for Animal Kingdom, and a Te Ka costume for myself, and a coconut drink Trick-or-Treat bag for Harlow for the Halloween Party. (and a Trick-Or-Treat Snow Leopard bag for actual Trick-or-Treating. Did I mention Harlow and I both have 3 costumes this year? Yeah…)

Well, I think that’s all for now. I’ve been doing a LOT of Christmas stuff, so hopefully I’ll be back with Christmas gift ideas soon-ish. And definitely a post about our vacation!

Ta-ta for now.
